Obituary of Lisa A. Dean

Mrs. Lisa A. Dean, 61, of Old Sharon Road, Canajoharie, New York passed away, following a courageous battle on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Community Hospice in Albany, with her family by her side.

Born on March 14, 1957 in Stamford, NY, she was the daughter of Robert W. Laux and Jennie (Joanna) Valenti Laux.  She moved from Gilboa to Canajoharie in 1966 and was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, Class of 1975.

She worked at CNB/NBT Bank for over 20 years, running the call center and for the past 20 years Lisa worked at Montgomery County in the Public Health Department.

Mrs. Dean was a member of the NRA.  She enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, being outdoors, gardening, flowers, 4-wheeling, and snowmobiling.

On August 16, 1980 at the former Reformed Church of Stone Arabia, Lisa was married to Michael P. Dean.  Together they celebrated over 38 years of marriage.

Her parents, and uncle, Gaetano “Toni” Valenti predeceased her.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Michael Dean of Canajoharie, NY; daughter, Laura M. Fiato and Matthew of East Berne, NY; grandsons, Brayden, Bryson; brother, Larry M. & Patty Laux of Canajoharie, NY; sister, Linda J. & Alan Scott of Fultonville, NY; nieces, Tracy, Jennifer; nephews, Adam, Steven, Ian; as well as 6 great-nieces and great-nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 10:00am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.  Burial will take place in Canajoharie Falls Cemetery.
