Rev. Carl E. Hawver, 87, most recently of Honey Hill Road, Fort Plain, New York passed away after a breif illness late Friday evening, November 16, 2018 with his wife, Rosalyn by his side.
He was born on April 15, 1931 in Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY , the son of the late Seward Hawver and the late Mary Folmsbee Hawver Luther.
Rev. Hawver was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, and then he attended Baptist Bible Seminary for 5 years in Johnson City, NY, from which he obtained his BA. He had been a pastor for over 40 years, serving his first church The First Baptist Church in Marilla, NY. (Buffalo) until his most recent pastorial at Grandview Baptist Church, Fort Plain. Prior to this Carl had honorably served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years as a cook, during the Korean War. During his service he also played the saxaphone and other music, a love that continued his entire life.
Rev. Hawver loved music, reading, flying, camping helping anyone in need, taking drives in his car, but most of all he loved preaching the Word of God and was wholly dedicated to that in his life..
On December 19, 1953 in Hyndsville, NY, he married Rosalyn Brown, his beloved wife of 64 years. He was predeceased by his parents, and sister Joyce Enright.
Survivors include his wife Rosalyn Hawver of Fort Plain, his Son Paul D and his wife Kathe Hawver of Johnstown, NY, Daughter Rhonda D. and her Husband Kelly Holcombe of Canajoharie, NY, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren..
A Graveside service of rememberance will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery with military honors offered at that time.
