Mr. Michael Hudyncia, Sr., 85, lifelong resident of Fort Plain, New York passed suddenly Monday, August 18, 2014 at Bassett Healthcare of Cooperstown.
Born on October 18, 1928 in Little Falls, NY, he was the son of Alex and Julia Doshna Hudyncia, who immigrated through Ellis Island and worked to acquire a farm. Michael was born in the farm kitchen and attended a one room schoolhouse before attending Fort Plain Central School.
Mr. Hudyncia was a skilled carpenter and farmer and the family is most distinctly proud that he had missed only a handful of work days in 85 years. He worked the last day of his life with his family on his farm "Hu-hill Farm" which was established in 1961. He worked the farm for over 53 years.
His most powerful legacy was his work ethic, which he passed to his children and grandchildren for their own productivity and happiness.
Mr. Hudyncia was predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Mella.
He is survived by 6 children, Michael Hudyncia, Jr. and Dr. Joan Hudyncia of Wysox, PA, Dr. Stephen Hudyncia and Linda Hudyncia of Fort Plain, NY, Rob Hudyncia and Shirley Hudyncia of Fort Plain, NY, Joseph Hudyncia and Diane of Greensboro, NC, Maryann Denhoff of Fabius, NY, Dr. Timothy Hudyncia and Dr. Shannon Cutts Hudyncia of Providence, RI ;a sister, Mary Hudyncia of Fort Plain, NY; brother, Alex and Joann Hudyncia of Fort Plain, NY; grandchildren, Aurora Jane and Anyarose Hudyncia, Soren, Andrew, and Hans William Hudyncia, Julia Ann and Ryan Jacob Michael Hudyncia, Hannah Sage and Kalina Raeyne Hudyncia, Alexa Rose and Anna Julia Denhoff; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 22, 2014 at Noon at the family farm, Hu-Hill Farm, 232 Lighthall Road, Fort Plain, NY 13339. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 10:00am-12:00pm at the farm. Burial will follow in Fort Plain Cemetery.
