Clifford W. Douglass
Clifford W. Douglass of Canajoharie, NY, 83 years old passed away on June 12, 2018, Tuesday evening at Palatine Nursing Home with his loving wife by his side. He was born on April 25, 1935, the son of Dayton and Roberta Bowerman Douglass.
He was a graduate of Canajoharie High School on Erie Boulevard, Class of 1954. One of his proudest moments was sinking the winning basket at the Canajoharie-Fort Plain basketball game.
A Dairy farmer most of his life, he was active in many organizations; a former member of the 4H, FFA, Buel Grange, and Marshville Evangelical Church. He was a founding director of the Canajoharie ALL Alumni and treasurer for a number of years. He also was treasurer for of the old English Game Club, which encompasses the entire United States. He had many awards with his poultry and was a mentor to many. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and also known as a trainer for the Duck Downes Races.
On November 5, 1955 he married Elinor Gross and celebrated 62 years of marriage together.
He is survived by his wife Elinor; daughters Debra J. Douglass and Diane J. Douglass both of Canajoharie, Susan N. Krutz and her husband, Ronald, of Madison, CT, and Dr. James Douglass and his wife Danielle of Paramus, NJ; 2 brothers William Douglass and his wife Elizabeth and Jackson and Anna May both of Canajoharie; one Sister Sarah Armitstead and her husband William of Fort Plain; Sister in law Sandra Douglass of Canajoharie; 7 Grandchildren, Jared Douglass of Canajoharie, Andrea and her husband Jason Norton of Waterford, Casey and Mary Krutz of Madison, CT and Jamie and Andrew Douglass of Paramus, NJ; 4 great grandchildren, 2 step greatgrandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was also pre-deceased by his brother Clark Douglass.
A 12:00 Noon memorial service will take place on Saturday June 16th, 2018, at the Canajoharie United Methodist Church, with visitation taking place from 10-12noon prior.
