Mr. Leonard R. “Skip” Hoffman, Jr., 66, of Old Trail Road, Johnstown, New York passed away unexpectedly, on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, NY.
Born on April 12, 1951 in Cooperstown, NY, he was the son of Leonard Hoffman, Sr. and Elsie Thompson Hoffman. He was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1970 and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Hoffman was a dairy farmer in the area for his entire life.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War, obtaining the rank of Specialist 4.
Skip enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his granddaughter and great-granddaughter. He had a passion for anything regarding farming.
On June 5, 1971 at The Freysbush United Methodist Church, Skip was married to Linda R. King. Together they celebrated over 46 years of marriage.
His brother, John Hoffman and sister, Jeanette L. Smith predeceased him.
Mr. Hoffman is survived by his wife, Linda R. Hoffman of Johnstown, NY; 4 sons, Bobby-Jon Hoffman of Gloversville, NY, Chad Hoffman of Gloversville, NY, Brian Hoffman and Deanne Gebo of Wichita Falls, TX, Scott Hoffman of Johnstown, NY; sister, Ellen and Benny Poe of Albany, OR; granddaughter, Kyra Hoffman; great-granddaughter, Harper Hoffman; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 1:00pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Darlene Spaulding officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, April 14th from 11:00-1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Fort Plain Cemetery with Military Honors.
