Obituary of Selma H. D'Arcangelis

Mrs. Selma H. “Sally” D’Arcangelis, 100, formerly of River Street, Fort Plain, New York passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at The Daughter’s of Sarah Senior Community in Albany.

Born on November 9, 1917 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of Shaheen Peter Hage and Jamelia Dowe Hage.  She attended St. Mary’s School for 3 years before moving to Fort Plain, where she completed her education in the Fort Plain School.  She was a lifelong area resident and spent her time as a homemaker.

On July 21, 1957, Sally married Frank D’Arcangelis at the former St. James Catholic Church in Fort Plain.  Frank entered eternal rest on July 16, 1994.

Mrs. D’Arcangelis was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain, as well as being a member of the Altar Rosary Society.  She was professed in the Secular Order of St. Frances at the former St. Peter’s & Paul’s Catholic Church in Canajoharie by Rev. Ronald Schultz O.F.M. Convent on April 22, 1979.  Sally was also a lector and a Eucharistic Minister of the former St. James Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband, Sally is also predeceased by 2 brothers, Peter and Sasen S. Hage and 2 sisters, Mary Hage Nessle and Victoria Wilkinson.

Mrs. D’Arcangelis is survived by her brother, George J. Hage of St. Louis, MO; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 10:30am at the Chapel of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY, followed by the celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Reid Street, Fort Plain, NY.  Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery at a later date.
