Mr. Gerald Lewis Daley, 65, of West Main Street, Canajoharie, New York died Monday, September 1, 2014 at his home, following an extended illness.
Born on February 11, 1949 in Amsterdam, NY, he was the son of Gerald Daley and Mildred E. Pierce Daley. He attended school in Amsterdam, NY and was a lifetime resident of Canajoharie.
Mr. Daley worked for Kasson and Keller, Inc. in Fonda, NY. He also worked part-time on a dairy farm.
Gerald served with the US Army during the Vietnam war, obtaining the rank of Private First Class.
He was of Methodist faith.
Mr. Daley was predeceased by his sister, Geraldine Hammond and nephew, Christopher Hammond.
Mr. Daley is survived by his daughter, Alicia J. Massie and Donald LaPier of Fort Plain, NY; sons, Gerald L. Daley and Mary of Virginia, Joshua J. Daley of Holly Ridge, NC; 11 brothers and sisters, Linda Kilmartin, Paul Daley, Ronald Daley, Shirley Rulison, James Daley, Margaret Campbell, Debbie Daley, Danny Daley, Walter Daley, Lewis Daley, Cindy Reschke; 5 grandchildren, Sara Shaffer, Damien Massie, Gavin Massie, Geraldina Daley, Paul Daley.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 11:00am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 10:00-11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at a later date.
