Obituary of Barbara P. Stowell

Mrs. Barbara P. Stowell, 69, of Otsego Street, Canajoharie, New York died Sunday, September 14, 2014 at St. Mary's Healthcare of Amsterdam. Born on October 20, 1944 in Amsterdam, NY, she was the daughter of John Swank and Opal Schwabrow Swank. She attended Canajoharie Schools and was a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Stowell worked in the Lexington workshop from 1980-1985. She enjoyed playing cards and yahtzee. On October 20, 1973 in Fort Plain, NY, Barbara was married to Clifford Stowell, Sr. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1997. She was also predeceased by her sister, Lousie Bayhots. Mrs. Stowell is survived by her 3 sons, Clifford and Lisa Stowell, John Stowell, Lloyd Stowell all of Canajoharie, NY; 3 daughters, Mabel and Bob Taylor of Delta, FL, Nancy Stowell and Craig Weaver of Fort Plain, NY, Ruby and Tom Smith of Cherry Valley, NY; brothers, John and Ann Swank of Burlington Flats, NY, Earl Swank, Sr. of Fort Plain, NY; sisters, Ruby Craver of Fort Plain, NY, Rita King of St. Johnsville, NY; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 at 11:00am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 10:00-11:00am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Ames Cemetery.
