Obituary of Norma G. De Vost

Mrs. Norma G. De Vost, 93, formerly of Canal Street, Fort Plain, and most recently of Montgomery Street, Canajoharie, New York died Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Wilkinson Center in Amsterdam, NY, following a brief illness. Born on June 9, 1921 in Buffalo, NY, she was the daughter of John and Bertha Gould. She had been a resident of the Fort Plain area since 1944. Mrs. De Vost was a mother and homemaker in Fort Plain, NY. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain. Mrs. De Vost loved gardening and holding her weekly garage sale. On November 20, 1941 in Buffalo, NY, Norma was married to Andrew I. De Vost. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2005. She was also predeceased by all of her siblings. Mrs. De Vost is survived by her son, Ronald De Vost of Williamson, GA; 3 grandsons, Matthew, Steven, and Andrew De Vost; 1 great-grandson; 2 great-granddaughters. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 10:00am at Fort Plain Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
