Obituary of Jewel M. Primer

Mrs. Jewel M. Primer, 88, most recently of Michalik Drive, Fort Plain, New York died Friday, October 10, 2014 at Mountain Valley Hospice House in Gloversville. Born on August 18, 1926 in Fort Plain, NY, she was the daughter of Floyd Flanders and Mary Agnes Ward Flanders. She attended Fort Plain High School and was a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Primer worked for Luxary in Fort Plain from 1941-1986, only leaving for a short time for a job in the Gum Room at Beech-Nut. She was also a waitress at the Fort Plain Bowling Alley. Mrs. Primer was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Fort Plain. She was a member of the Fort Plain VFW Post #3275 Woman's Auxiliary. Mrs. Primer enjoyed crocheting, sewing, playing cards and reading. On June 1, 1946 in Fort Plain, NY, Jewel was married to Cyril D. Primer. He preceded her in death on May 9, 1987. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Ward, Bernard and Leo Flanders, Harley Flanders; sister, and Dorothy Rivenburg. Mrs. Primer is survived by her 4 daughters, Georgette and Paul Flanders of St. Johnsville, NY, Donna DiBlasio of Fort Plain, NY, Cathy and Dennis Maaser of Fort Plain, NY, Michelle Porter of Fort Plain, NY; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and one great great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday October 14th at 2:00 PM at the Village of St. Johnsville Cemetery.
