Mr. Lawrence J. Miner, 78, of St. Hwy. 80, Fort Plain, New York died Monday, October 13, 2014 at St. Mary's Healthcare of Amsterdam following a brief illness. Born on December 13, 1935 in Wyoming Co., PA, he was the son of Lawrence J. Miner, Sr. and Hazel Gould Miner. He was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School in PA. Mr. Miner had been a resident of the Fort Plain area for over 50 years. Mr. Miner was a plumber for Beech-Nut in Canajoharie and Malopa in Fort Plain for over 35 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Palatine Bridge, NY. Mr. Miner enjoyed camping for over 35 years, always taking 2 weeks each year to spend at Northampton Campgrounds. He liked hunting and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather that loved spending time with his family, his grandchildren especially. On September 11, 1955 Lawrence married Beverly J. Schrader. She preceded him in death on October 11, 2013. Mr. Miner is survived by his 3 daughters, Patti Misterka of Canajoharie, NY, Nancy Griffin of Fort Plain, NY, Vanessa Lynn Miner of Fort Plain, NY; son, Paul Miner of Rome, NY; sister, Joy Buerge of Margaretville, NY; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 1:00pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, W. Grand Street, Palatine Bridge, NY 13428. Contributions in memory of Mr. Lawrence J. Miner may be made to the charity of one's choice.
