Obituary of Janet L. Dygert

Mrs. Janet L. Dygert, 57, of Eaker Road, Fort Plain, New York died Sunday, January 11, 2015 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam following a long term illness. Born on March 22, 1957 in Schenectady, NY, she was the daughter of the late Damiano Introne and Eleanor Janet Weaver Introne. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School and was a lifetime area resident. Most recently Mrs. Dygert was the Department Manager for the Infant's Department at Wal-Mart in Gloversville. She had also worked as a Certified Nurse's Aide for St. Johnsville Nursing Home. She was of Methodist faith. Mrs. Dygert enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially looked forward to being able to spend time with her grandchildren. She liked caring for others and helping them get well. Mrs. Dygert loved baking cakes and doing anything that required using creativity. On October 5, 1974 at the Canajoharie United Methodist Church, Janet was united in marriage with Lester Dygert. Mrs. Dygert is survived by her husband of over 40 years, Lester Dygert of Fort Plain, NY; 3 daughters, Shelly Alkinburgh and Kevin of Canajoharie, NY, Janette Frederick and Timothy of Canajoharie, NY, Lyndsai Chesebro and Stanley of Rural Grove, NY; 5 brothers; 6 grandchildren, Conner, Cameron, Christopher, Tamara, Reba, Tyler; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 10:00am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY with Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, January 14 from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Freysbush Cemetery in the spring.
