Mr. Dion A. Battisti, an amazing, irreplaceable man of 51, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born on July 25, 1966 in Little Falls, NY, he was the son of Anthony Battisti and Patricia Spencer Battisti. He attended St. Johnsville Schools and was a lifelong area resident.
Mr. Battisti was a Truck Driver for Longhorn Trucking in Fort Plain for over 21 years. He was also the owner an operator of Hollow Trucking and Smokey Hollow BBQ.
Dion loved to cook and was an avid NASCAR fan. He was a man that truly loved his family. He was a supportive husband to his wife, Carrie, a wonderful father to his children, and loving poppy to his grandchildren, a son, brother, and a friend to many. He was a man that would do anything for anyone at the drop of a hat and he had a heart like no other.
On July 24, 1993 in Fort Plain, NY, he was married to Carrie Mykel. Together they celebrated over 24 years of marriage.
His grandmother, Norma Spencer predeceased him.
Dion is survived by his parents, Anthony and Patricia Battisti of Ilion, NY; wife, Carrie Battisti of Fort Plain, NY; children, Ian Battisti of Canajoharie, NY, Eric Larsen of St. Johnsville, Trista Battisti of New York City, Kirsten Battisti Hall and Kyle of Johnstown, NY, Tiesha Battisti of Canajoharie, NY; 11 grandchildren, Jacob, Amia, Emma, Nevaeh, Gema, Emily Autumn, Savanah, Brayden, Adelynn, Layla, Emily; brother, Tracy and Laurie Battisti of St. Johnsville, NY; sisters, Toni Lynn and Larry Hinkle of Fort Plain, NY, Tricia and Rusty "DP" Mento of Fort Plain, NY, Cassie and Jordan Burdick of Utica, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11:00am at The Fort Plain Reformed Church, Canal Street, Fort Plain, NY with Rev. Nancy Ryan officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 3:00-7:00pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Burial will take place privately, at the convenience of the family, in Fort Plain Cemetery.
