Obituary of Florence A. Kretser

Mrs. Florence A. Kretser, 85, of State Highway 10, Fort Plain, New York died the evening of January 17, 2015 at River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam, following a brief illness. Born on August 23, 1929 in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of Henry Buyce and Dorothy Blood Buyce. She attended Gloversville schools and was a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Kretser was a mother and homemaker. She was a member of the Oppenheim/Ephratah Senior Citizens Group and really enjoyed playing Skip Bo, as well as completing puzzles in her younger years. Florence was predeceased by her husband, Melvin Kretser in 2009 and her son, Gary Warner. Mrs. Kretser is survived by her sons, Daniel G. Warner and Debra of Fort Plain, NY, Tim Kretser of Canajoharie, NY; 3 step-children, Linda Praetorius and Robert, Sandy Duesler and John, Ronald Kretser and Eileen, all of Fort Plain, NY; sisters, Beatrice Walker, Celia Smith; brother, Herbie Buyce; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Ephratah Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Florence A. Kretser may be made to the charity of one's choice.
