Obituary of Doris M. Gattman

Mrs. Doris M. Zeidner-Gattman, 94, formerly of Lafayette Court,, Palatine Bridge, New York passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Thursday , January 22, 2015 at the Palatine Nursing Home. Born on April 21, 1920 in Worcester, NY, she was the daughter of Albert Loring and Laura "Katie" Russ Loring. Doris was a lifelong area resident off the valley. In May 1939, Doris Married her first husband, Carl Zeidner who predeceased her in 1995. She was also predeceased by her second husband, Earl Gattman, Sr. on March 11, 2014. Mrs. Gattman was a mother and homemaker most of her life but had worked at Beech-Nut during the 1960's, and at a textile mill in Fonda for a brief time. Mrs. Gattman enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her other joys included reading, crossword puzzles, flowers and animals. Doris was predeceased by her youngest son, Kenneth Zeidner, in 1998, 1 Sister Edna Randall, 2 Brothers Bill and Harry Loring, as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Gattman is survived by her 5 sons, Jack Zeidner of Fort Plain, Edward Zeidner of Fort Plain, Fritz and his wife Linda Zeidner of Canajoharie, Karl and his wife Debra Zeidner of Fort Plain, and William Zeidner of Duncan OK. She is also survived by 15 Grandchildren, Several Great grand and Great, Great Grandchildren; Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. She will also be missed by her cat Midnight. A 12:00 Noon funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, January 27 from 11-12pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Ames Cemetery, in the spring. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Doris M.
