Obituary of G. Carol Quackenbush

Mrs. G. Carol Close Quackenbush, 88, of Fort Plain, New York died Monday, February 2, 2015 at St. Mary's Healthcare of Amsterdam. She was born in Fort Plain, NY on September 18, 1926 to the late Wallace H. and Geraldine (Gray) Close. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1944. Mrs. Quackenbush was employed by Beech-Nut for 35 years, working in various departments until her retirement on January 1, 1987. She was a member of Fort Plain Reformed Church, a member of the 222nd National Auxiliary of the 42nd Rainbow Division, and a life member of the Rainbow 42nd World War 2. On March 23, 1991, she was united in marriage to Carlton L. Quackenbush in The Chapel of the Canajoharie United Methodist Church. He predeceased her on February 6, 2010. She was also predeceased by both parents and her brother, Sterling H. Close. Mrs. Quackenbush is survived by 3 daughters, Dawn (Morgan) Neddo of Waterford, NY, Faith Ann Wood of Fort Plain, NY, and Linda (Timothy) Conrad of Fort Plain, NY; step-daughter-in-law, Levetta Quackenbush of Nacogodoches, TX; 4 granddaughters; 1 grandson; 1 great-granddaughter; 5 great-grandsons; nieces, nephews, cousins and an aunt. A graveside service will be held privately at the convenience of the family in the Spring at the Village of St. Johnsville Cemetery.
