Obituary of Isabelle J. Hoffman

Mrs. Isabelle J. Hoffman, 99, of Hancock Street, Fort Plain, New York died Friday, February 6, 2015 at Palatine Nursing Home, surrounded by her family. Born on November 3, 1915 in Fort Plain, NY, she was the daughter of Joseph Marcellino and Altea D'Arcangelis Marcellino. She attended Fort Plain High School and was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Hoffman was a mother and homemaker most of her life. She also worked for Luxuray Mills for over 10 years, the Fort Plain Liquor Store for a short time and the Fort Plain Fabric store. She was the Democrat Board of Elections Inspector for many, many years. Mrs. Hoffman was a volunteer at the Mid-County Volunteer Ambulance Corp. for over 10 years. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and word puzzles. She was known for her Italian food. On March 9, 1933 in St. Johnsville, NY, Isabelle was married to Charles H. Hoffman. He preceded her in death January 1992. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Emelie O'Connor in 2010; son, Joseph Hoffman in 1942; 3 brothers; and 2 sisters. Mrs. Hoffman is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Bonnie Hoffman of Canajoharie, NY; 2 grandsons; 1 great-granddaughter; 1 great-grandson; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service will be held in the Spring at Fort Plain Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Gray-Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
