Obituary of Barbara J. Brown

Barbara J. (Wood) Brown, age 79, succumbed to cancer at her home in Loxley, AL on Saturday, February 14, 2015. Known to many of her friends as "Bobbi", she was born in Nelliston, NY, on July 10, 1935 and was raised in Fort Plain, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Mabel (McIntosh) and her brother, John A. Wood. She is survived by her daughter, Glenna B. (Harrell) Grant of Loxley, AL; and her sons, David (Lisa) Brown of Miami, FL, Richard (Tracy Montoni) Brown of St. Johnsville, NY, and Steven (Melanie) Brown of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, 2 nephews, and several cousins. Mrs. Brown enjoyed cross-stitch, knitting, and all manners of puzzles and games. She was an avid sports fan, especially NASCAR. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 10:00am at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. Burial will take place at Ames Cemetery. A reception will follow at Dome49 Restaurant, 49 Hancock Street, Fort Plain, NY at 12:30pm.
