Mrs. Marie C. Nettleton, 79, of McEwan Road, Canajoharie, New York died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at her home, surrounded by her family, following a long illness.
Born on July 7, 1935 in Buel, NY, she was the daughter of Hammed Countryman and Dorothy B. Luckfeldt Countryman. She attended Buel Country one room school house and graduated from Canajoharie High School. She was a lifetime area resident.
Mrs. Nettleton was a mother and homemaker.
She was a member of the Marshville Evangelical Church.
Mrs. Nettleton enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping, traveling, and gardening. One of her greatest joys was raising her family, children and grandchildren.
On September 19, 1953 Marie was married to Richard Nettleton. Together they celebrated over 61 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 children, her son, Randy Nettleton and daughter, Deborah Nettleton.
Mrs. Nettleton is survived by her husband, Richard W. Nettleton of Canajoharie, NY; 6 children, Rick Nettleton, Cindy Yacobucci, Ron Nettleton, Bob Nettleton, Bill Nettleton, Shelly MacFadden; brother, Charles Countryman; 7 grandchildren, Scott Rickard, Natasha Koelbl, Ericka Nettleton, Mike Yacobucci, Silvio Yacobucci, Jim Yacobucci, Angela Yacobucci; many great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and her beloved cat, Benji.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2015 at 2:30pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317 with Rev. RW Williams officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, February 20th from 12:30-2:30pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery in the spring.
