Mr. Virgil C. Weaver, Sr., 84, of Fort Plain, New York passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2015 with his loving wife, Anna of 61 years, by his side.
Born in McKinley, Palatine Bridge, New York on August 11, 1930, he was the son of the late John and Hazel Weaver. He was a life long resident of the area; who owned and operated the family dairy farm in the Town of Palatine for over 50 years.
He married Anna Dodson Weaver on December 19, 1953 in Palatine, NY.
Survivors include his wife, Anna Weaver; children, Andrew (Deborah) Weaver, Dawn (Edmund) Sanders, Craig (Nancy) Weaver, all of Fort Plain, Gertrude (Richard) Smith of Canajoharie, Mary (Donald) VanValkenburgh of Sprakers, Rosemary (David) Calabrese of Palatine, Henry (Marjorie) Weaver of Maricopa, AZ; 30 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchilren; 5 great-great -grandchildren; 2 brothers, Harvey Weaver, Raymond (Minnie) Weaver of Palatine; 4 sisters, Sadie Dillenbeck of Fort Plain, Gertrude Johnson of St. Johnsville, Hazel (Jack) Hyney of Canajoharie, Norma (George) Frasier of Little Falls; several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Weaver was predeceased by a son, Virgil C. Weaver, Jr. and 2 brothers, Floyd and Ostrom Weaver.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at 10:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stone Arabia with Pastor Zach Labagh officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Burial will take place at Ephratah Rural Cemetery at a later date.
