Obituary of Miss Robin R. Surnear

Miss Robin R. Surnear, 51, of Spring Street, Fort Plain, New York died Sunday, March 29, 2015 with her family by her side, at St. Mary's Healthcare of Amsterdam, following a year long battle with cancer. Born on October 15, 1963 in Little Falls Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Erving C. Surnear, Jr. and Jessie Clark Ciani. She was a graduate of Fort Plain High School, Class of 1981 and was a lifetime area resident. Most recently Miss Surnear worked for Fort Plain Central School as a cleaner. She also worked for LaSalle Labs in Canajoharie for over 20 years. She was of Catholic faith. Robin loved to walk. She enjoyed her cats and wordsearch puzzle books. Robin is survived by her mother, Jessie Ciani of Fort Plain, NY; sister, Anna and her husband, Wayne Dolly of Fort Plain, NY; brother, Michael and his wife, Dawn Surnear of Fort Plain, NY; niece, Stacey Ellerby; nephew, Jamie Mykel; several great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2015 at 7:00pm at The Chapel of Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery at a later date. The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to St. Mary's Healthcare of Amsterdam, St. Mary's Memorial Campus Cancer Center, Dr. Skuleo, Dr. Sue, Ashley, Dana, Heidi, and the rest of the staff.
