Obituary of Harland E. Dunckel

Mr. Harland E. Dunckel Mr. Harland E. Dunckel, 84, of Salt Springville Road, Fort Plain, NY died Friday May 15th at his home, following a long illness, surronded by his loving family. Born on May 3, 1931 in East Springfield, NY, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Edna Brown Dunckel. Mr. Dunckel was a graduate of the former East Springfield High School, and attended the Freysbush United Methodist Church. Mr. Dunckel was a lifetime area resident, and was the owner and operator of the Dunckel Farm, in Fort Plain, NY until 2010 when his son, and grandsons took over the farm. Mr. Dunckel was known to be a hardworking, loving father, and family man, who enjoyed being outdoors, plowing, planting and all that he did living his farm life. On August 11, 1951, Harland was married to Madalin Moore, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church Parsonage, in Fort Plain, NY. The couple had celebrated 62 years of marriage. Mr. Dunckel is survived by his wife; Madaline E. Dunckel, of Fort Plain, NY; A son Vern, and daughter in law Norma Dunckel of Fort Plain; a daughter Kimberly Blowers of Fort Plain, sisters;Harriette and brother in law James Weeks of Richfield Springs, NY, Audrey Nasby of Utica, NY; Seven grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A 10:00AM Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Gray-Houghtaling and Smith Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339, with Rev. Alan Griffith officiating, with burial taking place at the Fort Plain Cemetery. The Family will receive friends and relatives on Monday May 18, 2015, at the funeral home from 5:00-8:00PM.
