Obituary of MaryEllen Tate

Mrs. MaryEllen Tate, 59, of Church Street, St. Johnsville, New York, died Monday, June 22, 2015 at the Rome Center for Rehabilitation and Health, following a long illness. Born on March 29, 1956 in Utica, NY, she was the daughter of the late Raymond G. Kiefl and Dolores Marie Gillespie Kiefl. She was a graduate of Canajoharie High School, Class of 1974 and was a lifetime area resident. Mrs. Tate worked for Helmont Mills in St. Johnsville. She was of Catholic faith. Mrs. Tate enjoyed painting, spending time with her family. She especially enjoyed seeing and playing with her granddaughter. Mrs. Tate is survived by her sons, Michael Belcher of Rome, NY, Eric Belcher of Herkimer, NY; brother, Raymond L. Kiefl of Canajoharie, NY; sisters, Kathleen M. Mount of Ames, NY, Patricia A. Mathiasen of San Jose, CA; granddaughter, Ava Grace Belcher. A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Houghtaling & Smith Funeral Home, Inc., 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. Burial will take place in St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mrs. Tate may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Pine West Plaza, Building 4, Suite 405, Washington Ave. Ext., Albany, NY 12205.
