Charles Z. Hogan Obituary
Mr. Charles Z. Hogan, 72, of Walnut Street, Canajoharie, NY died on May 26, 2026 at his home following a brief illness.
Charles was born on December 5, 1953, the son of the late Oscar Hogan and Hattie VanValkenburg Hogan.
He graduated from Fort Plain High School, then went onto attend FMCC.
Most recently he was a gatekeeper at Glenridge Motorsports Park, Glen, NY, which he loved doing.
He lived his entire life in the local area, and was a member of Freysbush Lutheran Church. He also had been a volunteer fireman for over 50 years, splitting his time between the South Minden Vol. Fire Dept and Canajoharie Vol. Fire Dept. He also found enjoyment in going to the races since he was a kid, often finding ways there and home in his youth. He also always looked forward to trips to Gilboa and other area mountains.
On June 3rd, 1977, at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Freysbush, NY he married his wife, Darlene Welcome.
He was predeceased in death by his parents; brothers Butch and Russell; sisters Ruthie, Harriett, and Diane.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene Hogan, children, Lillian Hogan, Charles Hogan, Jr., Jessica Brisbane (John), brothers Richard Hogan (Cecila), sisters Donna Hogan, Elsie Buccolo, and Doris Handy; 7 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of life will held at a later date, and will be announced. The service will take place at the Canajoharie Vol. Fire Dept, a place that meant so much to Charles.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
