William H. Rood Obituary

Mr. William H. Rood, Sr., also known to many as Big Will or Willy, was 61 years old and had lived his entire life in the local area passed away at Albany Medical Center, in Albany, NY, after a long battle with complicated medical issues. 


He was born on October 5, 1964, in the Town of Minden, NY, the son of Walter E. Rood, Jr., and Emma J. Merwin Rood, both of whom predeceased him. 


While in school, he attended Canajoharie Schools; later on, he learned Auto Mechanics and body repair. 


He enjoyed tinkering, cars, fishing, trying new foods, being with family and friends, and being out and about, "hanging out".


Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two of his brothers-in-law, Murphy Brown, Sr., and Richard Consolvo, Sr.


Survivors include his son; William H. Rood, Jr (Amy), daughters Pamela Smith (Mark), Victoria Rood, Holly Cervini (John); sisters Patricia Riley, Tammy Hughes, Rose Syzdek, and Kimberly Consolvo; grandchildren Emily, Rachel, Carter, Elijah, Kay-Lee, Ashley (aka Pippy), Markie, Kayla, Shane, Mackenzie, Sydney, Lillie Brooklynn and Kaleb (aka Dude); several great grandchildren; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.


Burial will take place at Mapletown Cemetery.


Arrangements are entrusted to Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
