Michael George Dutcher Obituary
Michael G. Dutcher, 55, of Morris, NY, entered eternal rest on April 6, 2026, with his wife, Sarah Bogran Dutcher, and family friend Deena Murphy by his side. He passed away at Bassett Healthcare of Cooperstown, NY, after a long battle with health challenges.
Michael was born in Amsterdam, NY, on December 13, 1970, the son of William Dutcher and Sandra Jean Susi Dutcher, who predeceased him.
In 1989, he graduated from Fort Plain High School, where he created lifelong friendships, and developed a passion for sports. He then went on to Herkimer County Community College, then to SUNY Oneonta, where he obtained his bachelor's in psychology.
For the past 14 years, he has worked in New York State as a habilitation specialist.
Michael has lived in Morris, NY, for the past ten years and prior he lived in Fort Plain and Oneonta NY. While living in Fort Plain, he was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and more recently, he enjoyed watching church services on television with his wife from the 7th Day Adventents Church. He had also been a member of the Canajoharie-Fort Plain Elks Lodge while he lived locally.
Michael enjoyed many things in his life, one being his band Rumpu.s., with his twin brother Matthew, best friend Mark Armstrong, manager Jessy Armstrong, and the rotation of the bands drummers. Michael’s true passion was music. He loved creating music, collecting guitars, and spending his free time at various concerts. He also enjoyed golfing, camping, and thrifting as well as being very passionate about the NY Yankees, NY Jets, and political debates. If you know, you know.
On October 14, 2016, he married Sarah Bogran. Michael and Sarah met twenty years ago and have created a beautiful life together. Sarah and Michael often spent their time together going for long drives while listening to music, which was a passion they both shared and enjoyed learning and playing music together. They also both enjoyed nature and bonded while camping and kayaking with one another. Michael and Sarah shared their home with their beloved pets, Goober and Luna, who are now with Michael in heaven, and Uncle Benjen, who will stay by Sarah’s side.
Michael is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Clifford and Helen Dutcher; maternal grandparents, Alfred and Margaret Susi; mother, Sandra J. Dutcher; and twin brother, Matthew W. Dutcher.
Survivors include his father, William "Bill" Dutcher of Fort Plain, NY; wife, Sarah Bogran Dutcher; mother and father-in-law, Maria T. Reyes and David Ortiz; sister-in-law, Cindy Greth; brothers-in-law, Oscar Alberto Bogran Fernando Bogran; nieces Allyson Dutcher and Braeden Dutcher and nephew Camden Dutcher. Michael has also left behind his legacy of being “ The Godfather” to the Rumpu.s. kids. Michael is survived as well by many family, friends and loved ones.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00-12:00 on Friday, April 10th, 2026, with a funeral following at 12:00 noon at the Fort Plain Funeral Home, 34 Center Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
Burial will follow at Fort Plain Cemetery.
