Martha Avis Hyney

“Or as more knew her-“Gram” passed to the gates of Heaven on March 3, 2026, at home. She was 79.

Born in Warren, Ohio, on November 14, 1946. She was the daughter of William and Beverly Lee. Martha worked for a short time at the old Beech Nut factory, but her call was to help Mac run the family farm/business.  She was in her early years and even seen on the job sites helping as needed.  She continued to assist in the day-to-day business up until her passing.

Most who knew her loved the spark and sense of humor that she resonated.  She was the master of hugs, and you didn’t get away from her without one. Once you met Martha, you had a friend for life. Many people in the area spent time at the family farm, to which she opened her arms and house. Many good memories were shared with her hospitality.   She loved all her grandchildren more than anything and always thought of them first, and we cannot forget her passion for them during their time in Canajoharie Sports.  Lastly, let’s not forget what we would call the “Starkville game farm,” as there wasn’t an animal she didn’t care for and would assist in a time of need.

Martha was predeceased by her two sons, Joey & Trevor, along with her brothers, Roger & Mike. Survivors include her husband Mac, her two sisters Kathy & Tony, along with her sister-in-law Elaine.  Daughter Desiree (Rob), son William(Joan), her grandchildren, BJ(Samantha), Nickolas(Alex), and Noah(Morgan). She also has 2 great-grandchildren, Aubrey and River.

Martha's wishes were a no splash ending with everyone loving each other and remembering her for the special part she may have played in your life. Her request was to be cremated with no formal service and ashes spread on the family farm along with her two sons, whom she lost.
