Marlene Sours Larkin passed away on February 20, 2026, at the age of 88, under the care of hospice. Marlene was born on March 13, 1937, the daughter of the late Alvah and Beulah (Ward) Sours. She was a lifelong resident of the Fort Plain area. Most recently, she resided at Foltsbrook Senior Living Center in Herkimer, NY.


She attended Fort Plain Central School, the class of 1955. Marlene worked various jobs as well as being a homemaker. She prided herself in serving people, whether as a waitress or a Certified Nursing Asst.


On July 3rd,1976, Marlene married John Larkin.


Marlene is predeceased by her husband John, her son Dennis Howe, her sisters Dawn Shea & Linda Lord, her brothers William and Allen Sours, her brother-in-law Edward Lord & daughter-in-law Linda Howe 


Marlene is survived by 6 children, Jeffery (Christine) Howe, Steven Howe, Brian (Cheryl) Howe, Lori Howe, Melody Howe Smith (Michael), and Cheryl Crooker (Terry), daughter-in-law Mary Howe, and stepdaughters, Kathy, Deb & Lisa, their spouses, and their children.


She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.


At Marlene's request, there will be no viewing hours. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at the Fort Plain Cemetery.
