Mrs. Margaret Benelli, 95, of the Town of Charleston, NY, passed away September 4, 2025, at St. Mary's Healthcare of Amsterdam, NY.

Margaret was born in Amsterdam, NY, on August 24. 1930, the daughter of Robert Carlos Ferguson and Maude Lillian Simpson Ferguson. 

After graduating from Canajoharie High School, she went on to graduate from Cobleskill, Eastern Nazarene, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and Andrews University, with her highest degree being a master's. 

For many years, she worked as a caseworker for Montgomery County in Fonda, NY, serving from the early 1970s when she moved back to the area,  until her retirement in 1994.

She enjoyed playing the organ and piano for area churches, but most loved being at her family homestead, where her family had called home for several generations. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard Benelli.

Survivors include her sons, Robert P Benelli and Jonathan B. Benelli, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A commital and celebratory remembrance will be held at an appropriate time and will be announced.
