Obituary of Richard Becker

Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Mr. Richard "Ricky" Becker, Jr., 46, of Dillenback Road, Palatine Bridge, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 27, 2025.

Ricky was born on February 11, 1979, in Gloversville, NY, to Richard Becker, Sr., and Janis Kosinski Becker, both of whom predeceased him. He spent his entire life in the local area, continuing to live in the home where he grew up.

After attending Canajoharie High School, Ricky began working full-time alongside his father at Becker’s Auto Salvage, Inc., a business he proudly worked at and operated for over 25 years. Later, he went on to serve as the Highway Superintendent for the Town of Palatine, a role he held with dedication and pride. Ricky always put forward his best effort and tried to lend a hand to anyone he could.

Ricky was an active member of his community, belonging to the Canajoharie-Fort Plain Elks, the Montgomery County Republican Committee, and both the Montgomery County and Fulton County Highway Superintendents Associations. Outside of work, he found joy in riding motorcycle with family and friends, four-wheeling, playing with his “Big Boy Toys” such as his skid-steer and payloader, taking trips to Florida, playing games with his family, and overall spending time with his loved ones.

On December 18, 2002, Ricky married Sherry Robinson, his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, in their home on Dillenback Road. Loved by all who knew him, Ricky was a dedicated and loving friend and family man and will be truly missed by all.

Ricky is survived by his beloved wife, Sherry; their son, Bryson Becker; his brother, Matthew and wife Patty Folts; sister-in-laws, Sena and husband Josh Woodard, and Seneca and husband Justin Daniels; mother-in-law, Lori Timian; uncle, Delbert "Skip" Becker, and wife Brenda; cousin Delbert “DJ” Becker; lifelong family friends, Scott and Kelly Bobar and their children; his cherished dog, Duke; as well as three nieces and five nephews.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Tuesday, April 1st, from 3:00-6:00 PM at Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317. A dear time of sharing special moments and memories will take place at 6:00 PM. Following the service, friends and family can gather at the Canajoharie-Fort Plain Elks Lodge in Nelliston.
