Obituary of Lawrence O. Hinkle

Mr. Lawrence O. "Larry" Hinkle, 81, of William Street, St. Johnsville, NY, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family following a battle with ALS.

Larry was born on August 28, 1943, in Amsterdam, NY the son of the late Vernon and Lovina Lawrence Hinkle.

In 1961 he graduated from Fort Plain High School, and later from Fulton Montgomery Community College.

Most recently he worked for the government in rural development in Gloversville and Schoharie, NY. before that, he worked for Lee Dye.

He was a lifetime area resident.

Larry was a member of New Beginnings Bible Church, where he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher.

In his spare time, he loved watching the NY Mets and going to their games with his boys, he also was a fan of the Buffalo Bills, and although he decided it was too cold to go in person after one game, he also enjoyed country music, golfing with his brother Vernon and his sons;  and playing games with his very competitive family.

He married Linda O'Neil on May 13, 1961, at the Salem United Methodist Church in Stone Arabia, NY.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Paul and Tom Hinkle, sister Shirley Palmer, sister-in-law Karen Hinkle, and brother-in-law Don Wilder.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years; Linda Hinkle; children; Mary Kilmartin (Roy), Pamela McFall ( Marc), Lawrence Hinkle (ToniaLynn), Judith Buccolo, and Daniel Hinkle (Keiley); brother Vernon Hinkle; Sister Patty Wilder; grandchildren Julie, Lynda, Carol, Katherine, Elizabeth, Shayne, Michael, Connor, Sophia, and Noah; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will be receiving friends and relatives from 10:00-12:00, on Monday, March 17th, 2025; a funeral will follow at noon at the Houghtaling and Hanley Funeral Home, 20 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda, NY.
