
Obituary of Ann Vickary
Ann Vickery, 86, of Cemetery Road, Fly Creek, NY passed away peacefully at the Palatine Nursing Home, following a long illness.
She was born in the Town of Amsterdam, on May 25th, 1938, the daughter of Coleman Russell and Catherine Moyer Russell.
Ann graduated from Canajoharie High School, class of 1956. Later she went on to attend Farmingdale College.
Most recently, she worked as an interpreter at the Farmers Museum in Cooperstown for 22-plus years. Concurrently, she ran her farm in Fly Creek, where she raised sheep and goats and produced everything from hoof to final product, making everything needed including the dyes that were sold to customers worldwide.
She had spent the last 30-plus years in Flycreek, previously living in Oakville.
Ann also enjoyed painting, traveling, and the arts. All of this was trumped by her love of spinning and weaving. She had at a time also owned miniature and Arabian horses, and always showed a love for animals, especially her cats.
She was predeceased by her parents.
Survivors include her son, Jeffrey Watson and his wife Melissa, grandsons Jeffrey and Cindy Watson, Steven, and Jolene String, Brett (Megan) String, granddaughter Courtney, and Shawn Pugsley; 8 great-grandchildren; family friend and caretaker Caryl Voght, sister Linda Russell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of life will take place at the funeral home in May 2025 and will be announced prior.
